day 1 :

Fly by small charter plane from Shell/Puyo into the heart of the Ecuadorian Amazon, landing in the Huaorani village of Bameno. Meet Otobo and his family for an introduction to Huaorani life before continuing by motorized canoe along the Cononaco River to the remote forest campsite inside Yasuní National Park.

After settling into your comfortable raised camping platform, enjoy lunch followed by a guided rainforest walk with a Huaorani guide and bilingual naturalist. Learn about medicinal plants, rainforest ecology, and search for wildlife such as monkeys, frogs, and forest birds. Dinner is served at camp, surrounded by jungle sounds.

day 2 :

Begin the day with breakfast, then drift quietly along the Cononaco River to observe birds and wildlife. Visit an oxbow lake to try traditional piranha fishing before returning to camp for lunch. The afternoon offers time to swim or fish in the river, followed by another guided forest walk focused on wildlife tracking and Amazon ecosystems. After dinner, choose between a night jungle walk or a canoe excursion to spot nocturnal species.

  • day 3 :

    Rise early for a canoe journey and hike to a natural salt lick, where mammals and birds often gather. Return to camp for lunch before visiting Otobo’s family community, where you’ll learn about Huaorani traditions, test blowgun skills, and gain insight into daily life deep in the forest.

    In the evening, enjoy dinner and an optional night canoe ride or forest walk in search of caimans and nocturnal wildlife.

    day 4 :

    After breakfast, head back into the forest to another salt lick, hoping to spot parrots, macaws, and other wildlife. Return to camp for lunch and time to swim in the river.

    Later, take a short afternoon hike through pristine rainforest before dinner and a guided night walk.

    day 5 :

    An early morning hike to a final salt lick offers another chance to observe forest mammals and birds. After lunch, enjoy free time to swim or relax before a longer guided rainforest walk.

    Dinner is followed by a final night excursion by canoe or on foot, listening to the sounds of the Amazon after dark.

    day 6 :

    After an early breakfast, travel by canoe back to Bameno village, with time to purchase authentic Huaorani handicrafts. Return by charter flight to Shell/Puyo, concluding an unforgettable Huaorani Amazon camping experience inside Yasuní National Park.

    The experience takes place in a remote jungle camp inside Huaorani territory within the Yasuní Biosphere Reserve.
