day 1

After a warm welcome in Tena, meet your guide for a safety briefing, gear preparation, and paddle practice. Begin a scenic duckie ride along the Jatun Yaku River, navigating calm stretches surrounded by lush Amazonian landscapes.

Arrive at a peaceful riverside beach where camp is set for the night. Take part in preparing a woodfire-cooked dinner, learning traditional cooking methods used by local communities. Discover how cacao and guayusa are prepared and enjoy these ancestral Amazonian drinks.

As night falls, gather around the campfire to discuss the social and environmental impacts of mining in the Amazon and how it affects local populations. Overnight in tents or hammocks, accompanied by jungle and river sounds.

  • day 2

    Wake up to the sounds of the river and begin the day with a gentle morning yoga session on the beach, followed by traditional guayusa tea and breakfast.

    Continue the expedition with two immersive duckie rides totaling approximately four hours, stopping for lunch in Puerto Napo. Along the way, observe firsthand the environmental effects of mining activities, including altered landscapes and riverbanks.

    Reach a new riverside campsite and be welcomed by a local Kichwa family. Spend the evening sharing cultural traditions through music, stories, and a sacred rapé ceremony. Reflect together on the changes observed during the journey and their broader impact on the Amazon. Overnight in hammocks or tents.

    day 3

    After breakfast, take part in hands-on cultural workshops led by the community. Learn how chicha is prepared, practice traditional blowgun techniques, discover ancestral gold washing methods, and explore pottery and natural fiber weaving.

    Following a farewell with the community, begin the return journey to Tena, concluding this immersive Amazon jungle escape with a deeper understanding of the region’s cultural richness and environmental challenges.
